Robert Carillio’s professional background includes many years in direct sales, radio voice over and announcing, and operating his own custom aquarium installation and maintenance services throughout the Cleveland area. His main feature in the aquarium trade was to showcase native Ohio aquatic habitats for educational purposes--and to generate a better respect and understanding for our local water resources.
Robert has traveled abroad and within the country extensively, and is never ashamed to come back to N.E. Ohio and call it home! He has gained a vast appreciation and knowledge of this region’s art, human and natural history, and culture, and a great appreciation for Cleveland. He likes to bring home progressive ideas from his travels--some in the environmental sense--which he would like to see promoted and implemented here. City improvement ideas to make Cleveland more welcoming to visitors---ideas such as the planting of native plants around the city to reduce maintenance energy and need for chemicals...promoting the Great Lakes Cruises to make downtown Cleveland a port of call, litter clean-up and prevention, improving store-front and streetscape maintenance, improving public safety, reducing unnecessary noise pollution, and promoting Downtown as a place to become a haven for local and unique businesses that will cater to all of the needs of the residents.
Additionally, Robert is working on starting a new on-line radio station/web-site that will promote unique local and independent businesses downtown and in surrounding neighborhoods. For many years he has helped visitors to our area from within the US and abroad, to take home with them a whole new positive perception of our area, starting with Downtown. All of this inadvertent volunteering has been a rewarding labor.
Originally from Warren, Ohio, Robert resides on the near west side in Ohio City, and uses and promotes Downtown on a regular basis. His leisure time involves reading, photography, writing, world travel, biking, time with his dog, art, nature/environment, volunteering in the neighborhood, watching alternative world news sources, and collecting coffee table books about historical Cleveland!
